Free Accomodation All Over The World?

Friday, February 27th, 2009

Today I came across a fascinating website GlobalFreeloaders.com. After registering on the site you can stay with local people all over the world for free while on travel, as well as host people that are on travel visiting your area.

When you travel, you can meet local people and stay with them for free, get to know them and get an insider’s view to the local community you’re visiting. When you host visitors you specify what amenities, if any, you will provide above and beyond basic lodging.

Be sure to check out their FAQ as well as the member testimonials, and if you register and use their service, be sure to drop me a line and let me know how it went!

Beware of Suspicious E-Cards

Friday, February 13th, 2009

Valentine’s Day is upon us and hackers are taking advantage of the fact by sending out fake e-cards via email en mass, hoping to infect your PC and install malware to provide them with access to your PC, harvest your passwords and account numbers, and more.

If you get an e-card from someone you don’t recognize, or if doesn’t show the name of the sender, delete it. If you click on an e-card and the link is bogus and you land on a rogue site, the malware the scammers load on your computer can give them a constant back door into your system.

Cost of Stamps Going up in May

Wednesday, February 11th, 2009

The U.S. Postal Service today announced Price Increases that will be effective May 11, including a first-class stamp increase of 2 cents to 44 cents. The Postal Service says the increase is tied to rising production costs and inflation. According to a written release, the increase is expected to cost the typical family $3 a year.

You can still buy “Forever Stamps” at the current 42-cent rate until May 11. The Forever Stamps don’t have a price denomination on them and will be honored whenever they are used, even if prices have gone up.

Stock up on Forever Stamps before May 11th!

Experian to Discontinue Consumer Access to FICO Score

Tuesday, February 10th, 2009

Currently as a consumer you can obtain your FICO® scores from all three major credit bureaus (Experian, Equifax and TransUnion). These are the credit scores lenders use to make credit decisions.

However, effective February 14th, Experian will no longer allow consumers to view their FICO scores based upon Experian data. While a majority of lenders will continue to use Experian-based FICO scores to make decisions about credit worthiness, these credit scores will not be available to consumers except for those enrolled in select Fair Isaac Scores on Statements® programs. FICO scores from Equifax and TransUnion will continue to be available.

If you’re concerned about the fact that consumers will no longer be able to see or manage the credit scores Experian is selling to lenders, I encourage you to contact Experian directly.

Marketside Coupons for $5 and $10 Off

Sunday, February 8th, 2009

I went to our local Marketside grocery store tonight and the cashier offered me an instant coupon for $5 off my $61 order. She also said that if I wanted to buy a few more things she could give me a coupon for $10 off $80 instead. I wanted to get home so I settled for the $5 coupon.

She applied the $5 coupon to my order, and then handed me a coupon with a promo code for a FREE Redbox DVD movie rental that’s valid until 5/1/09 (there’s a Redbox DVD rental kiosk at the entrance of the store and rentals normally cost $1 each). How cool is that!

You can use their store locator to find Marketside locations near you…it knows what IP address you’re coming from and displays stores very close to you.

To save time you can see what’s on sale each week by downloading the flyer from their website (click on “Download this week’s Marketside specials” at the bottom of any page).

If you have a Marketside store nearby, you might want to call or stop by and see if you can get a coupon, too. Good luck!
