E-File Your Federal Tax Returns for Free With Free File

Today the IRS announced it’s expanding its program that allows taxpayers to file online for free. This year the e-file program includes new improvements to the Free File program that will allow nearly all taxpayers to e-file for free.

From the IRS website:

“…most taxpayers qualify for free tax preparation offered through Free File on IRS.gov. Regardless of income level, taxpayers who are comfortable with filling out paper tax forms and who don’t need extra assistance can use the IRS’s new Free File Fillable Forms. These new online versions of paper tax forms that can be e-filed are available for the first time by visiting the IRS.gov Free File site.”

Obama Urges Delay for Switch to Digital TV

The government ran out of HDTV converter coupons and the Obama camp is urging Congress to delay the switch to digital television broadcasting currently scheduled for February 17, 2009.

There is currently a waiting list for the government issued DTV converter coupons, and the list could grow to 5 million over the next few weeks (to get on the waiting list, go to the TV converter box coupon website).

Free Sea World Admission for Military in 2009

Armed service members and their family can get free admission to Sea World and other Anheuser-Busch parks thru December 31, 2009.

The “Here’s to the Heroes” offer provides a single day’s free admission to any one Sea World or Busch Gardens park, Sesame Place, Adventure Island or Water Country USA for the service member and as many as three of his or her direct dependents.

Any active duty, activated or drilling reservist, or National Guardsman is entitled to free admission under the program.

Eligible parks include SeaWorld Orlando, San Diego, or San Antonio, Busch Gardens Tampa Bay or Williamsburg, Sesame Place, Water Country USA, and Adventure Island. Not valid at Discovery Cove and Aquatica.
